Hassan joins 26 life scientists selected by the European Molecular Biology Organization for the Young Investigator Programme. The initiative supports group leaders in the early stages of their independent careers. More details.
New publication: The Nagoya Protocol and its impact on microbiology
The Nagoya Protocol was drafted to ensure the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the international use of genetic resources. In our Comment at Nature Microbiology, we outline how these regulations shape microbiology research and global collaborative efforts.
New publication: Dual lifestyle of Fusarium
Fusarium is causal to many plant diseases. But it is also increasingly found in symbioses with insects. How does the fungus balance this dual act as an insect mutualist and a plant pathogen? We explore these questions in our latest. Led by Aileen Berasategui and Shounak Jagdale, and out today in PLOS Pathogens!
EMBL symposium: The cellular mechanics of symbiosis, Heidelberg, 2023
The lab took part in a wonderful symposium in Heidelberg. Marleny & Inès both presented their exciting posters on leaf beetle-bacterial symbioses, and Hassan gave a talk on Aileen’s fungal work. An award sash was given to the best poster, which Inès brought home - congratulations, Dr. Pons!
